AI in Segue

What AI does in Segue, the one switch that turns it off, and the optional local model you can download.

Segue converts pastes and reads set requests with its own rules first. AI only refines the result: it checks section labels and the title and artist of a paste, and offers extra chips for a set request. It never rewrites your lyrics or chords, and it never runs during a show.

Settings > AI > Use AI to refine pastes and set requests is on by default. Turn it off and Segue uses its own rules only.

Settings, AI, with the Use AI switch and the local model card

On a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on, Segue uses Apple's on-device model for pastes. If it isn’t available, Settings > AI says why, for example that it is still getting ready or turned off, with a button to open System Settings. Set requests use only the local model.

For the best results, download Segue’s local model in Settings > AI: about 2.3 GB, downloaded only when you click Download. Once it is downloaded, Segue uses it first. It loads only while it works on a paste or a set request, then frees the memory. On a Mac with less than 16 GB of memory, Apple’s model stays the default and the local model is optional, slower and heavier. Delete… removes the model’s files at once; you can download it again any time.

Only the model download, from Hugging Face, when you click Download. Your songs, pastes and requests never leave your Mac.
